HiPaint is a digital drawing and painting app for Android that helps create sketches, illustrations, anime, animations, and pixel-detailed artwork. The app combines a spacious canvas, more than 100 brush types, a flexible layer system, and color and image editing tools in one workspace.

Customizable workspace and brushes

The HiPaint interface is designed to be simple so the canvas area remains spacious to use. Users can adjust brush thickness and opacity with sliders, enable dark mode, and rearrange tool icons to suit their workflow. The workspace theme can also be customized.

HiPaint provides more than 100 brushes for various styles, ranging from sketches, ink, airbrush, and oil paint to digital pens. Special brushes for leaves, plants, grids, and lighting effects are also available. Through Brush Studio, users can adjust up to 90 parameters to create and refine their own brushes.

Color and layer management

Color settings support RGB, HSV, and CMYK modes. The eyedropper can sample colors from the artwork, while the paint bucket helps fill large areas. Custom palettes and a list of recently used colors make it easier to switch colors while drawing, coloring, and creating shadows.

The layer system allows users to copy, flip, rotate, rename, and group parts of their artwork. There are 28 blending modes, including multiply, overlay, and screen, along with opacity settings, alpha blending, and clipping masks for more targeted editing.

Drawing, animation, and enhancement tools

The stroke stabilizer helps smooth lines in real time. Users can add rectangles, lines, and ovals, flip the canvas, use symmetry guides, and import reference images as guides. Two-finger gestures for undoing, three-finger gestures for redoing, and pinch gestures for zooming or rotating the canvas make operation more convenient. Long-pressing can also activate the eyedropper.

The animation assistance mode supports creating frame-by-frame animations, GIFs, storyboards, and animatics with onion-skin display. Animated results can be exported in full resolution. For detailed editing, HiPaint provides hue, saturation, brightness, Gaussian blur, motion blur, sharpening, and sketch filter settings that can help extract lines from images.

Saving and exporting artwork

Artwork can be saved or exported in JPG, PNG, PSD, and HSD formats. HiPaint can also generate a video of the drawing process in MP4 format, allowing the stages of creating artwork to be shared or saved as documentation.
