MEGA is an encrypted cloud storage app that helps store, manage, and share files from mobile devices. Files can be uploaded from a smartphone or tablet, then searched, downloaded, played, viewed, shared, renamed, or deleted through the device used to access the account.
Cloud storage with client-side encryption
Data MEGA is encrypted and decrypted only on the user’s client device, not by MEGA. With this end-to-end encryption, MEGA states that it cannot access or reset the account password. Therefore, the password must be remembered and the account Recovery Key should be backed up. Losing both may result in loss of access to the files.
Manage and share files across devices
This app supports file management through MEGA Cloud Drive. Users can upload files from their devices, then search, download, stream, view, share, rename, or delete them. Folders can also be shared with contacts, while updates can be viewed in real time. Storage permission is used to download files from MEGA to the device and upload files from the device to MEGA.
Encrypted chats and calls
MEGA includes Secure Chat for end-to-end encrypted communication. This feature includes audio and video calls and supports automatically syncing chat history across multiple devices. Files can also be added to chats or moved from chats to MEGA Cloud Drive. Microphone and camera access are used to provide these audio and video calls.
Free storage and plan options
Registered users receive 20 GB of free storage. An additional 5 GB of storage can be obtained through the MEGA Achievements program. If more space is needed, MEGA Pro plans are available with different storage capacities and transfer quotas, ranging from Pro Lite with 400 GB of storage and a 1 TB monthly transfer quota to Pro III with 16 TB of storage and a 16 TB monthly transfer quota. Subscriptions renew automatically for the next period with the same duration and price as the initially selected period.
