VISCERAL is a turn-based survival roguelite featuring horror elements and tactical combat on a disturbing farm. VISCERAL Gameplay
On each turn, you receive three action points to attack, research creatures, direct the light, or try to escape. Research reveals enemy stats, weaknesses, and planned actions; this information helps you decide whether to pursue a critical hit, defend yourself, or save resources for the next room.
You carry melee weapons and firearms, both of which can wear out, while firearm use depends on ammunition. In addition to health, you must also manage your nerve, as lower nerve causes you to take more damage. Good decisions must therefore account for the light’s position, enemy behavior, weapon condition, ammunition, and the opportunity to retreat.

Creature Research
Using action points to research opponents reveals their stats, weaknesses, and planned actions. Knowing their weaknesses is essential because critical hits depend on successfully exploiting them, while studying can also restore nerve.
Enemies with Different Rules
Each creature demands a specific response rather than repeated attacks alone. Ooser hunts by sound, Harvester attacks from beyond the flashlight’s range, while Tear Drop grows weaker the longer it burns. This variety requires you to adjust how you use light, fire, distance, and attack timing.
Nerve System
Nerve represents the character’s mental stability and helps determine how much damage they take. When it is low, combat becomes more dangerous even if plenty of health remains, so regaining composure may be more urgent than immediately entering the next room.
Tactical Weapon Choices
The arsenal includes 42 weapons across three rarity tiers, including melee weapons and firearms. Abilities such as charged attacks, burst fire, burn effects, nerve recovery, and ammo refunds provide different ways to shape your strategy during a run.
Omens and Equipment
More than 60 Omens can provide powerful benefits or consequences that are difficult to predict. Bandages, morphine, flares, adrenaline, and grenades expand your emergency options, while passive or cursed items can change the set of abilities you use.
Trading with Visceral
Visceral serves as currency for acquiring or giving up resources at the counter. You must choose between buying and selling in a single interaction, and you can reroll the inventory if you have enough currency to search for more useful options.
